Baylor Women’s Basketball

April 2, 2012 by staff

Baylor Women’s Basketball, All season long, Brittney Griner and Baylor have taken everyone’s best shot. They haven’t blinked. After Sunday night’s 59-47 victory over Stanford, the Lady Bears are one win from a perfect season and NCAA history as the first team to win 40 games.

Standing in the way of Baylor becoming the seventh women’s team to go through a season unbeaten is Notre Dame — a team the Lady Bears beat by 13 early in the season.

“You don’t have comfort,” Baylor coach Kim Mulkey said. “There’s never comfort in this business. You go to the film room tonight and you get ready for the next game.”

Even a quiet night from Griner couldn’t stop the Lady Bears from advancing. The 6-foot-8 star was constantly hounded and double-teamed by Stanford, scoring only one basket in the second half Sunday night. So her supporting cast jumped in and carried the unbeaten Lady Bears (39-0) into the NCAA championship game.
