February 7, 2012 by staff

BAFTA Awards February 12, The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has chosen a muppet of a host for its annual awards ceremony taking place on Feb. 12 — Miss Piggy.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Miss Piggy has been selected as the official “red carpet host” of the BAFTA Awards, stopping to interview nominated actors and filmmakers as they enter the event. Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Michael Fassbender, Meryl Streep, Michelle Williams and Viola Davis are among this year’s nominees.

“Imagine the likes of Clooney, Dujardin, Fassbender, Oldman and Pitt achieving the very pinnacle of their careers — being interviewed by the one and only moi!” Miss Piggy told the showbiz trade. “Naturally I will be asking questions that only moi would dare to ask.”

Miss Piggy seemed particularly interested in speaking with Clooney. When asked if she would take down his girlfriend Stacy Keibler for the honor, Miss Piggy said, “I don’t wrestle girlfriends. No. However, if George wants to wrestle, bring it on! Best two out of three falls? Winner gets a dinner?”

Miss Piggy has had something of a banner year. In addition to the release of her new movie “The Muppets,” Miss Piggy was also photographed for a fashion spread in InStyle magazine wearing looks by designers Jason Wu and Prabal Gurung.
