Pandora is inhabited by Na’vi, 10-foot-tall (3 m), blue-skinned, humanoids wise [32] living in harmony with nature and the worship of a mother goddess called Eywa.

To learn more about the biosphere Na’vi and Pandora, scientists use hybrid Na’vi human body called avatars that are operated on by mental genetically identical human beings. Dr. Grace Augustine (Sigourney Weaver), head of the Avatar program, Sully finds a replacement inadequate and assigned as a bodyguard. A number of innovative visual effects techniques were used in the production of Avatar. According to Cameron, the work on the film had been delayed since the 1990s to allow the techniques to achieve the necessary degree of progress to adequately represent his vision of the film.
