Australian X Factor Winner, Reece Mastin, a 16-year-old born in Scnthorpe, has won the Australian version of the X Factor.
He was crowned the winner on Tuesday after performing the duet Kids with pop princess Kylie Minogue.

The teenager, who moved to Adelaide six years ago with his family, now has a contract with Sony.

His win comes just days before his 17th birthday.

“I’m feeling good. It’s not a bad birthday present at all,” he said.

To top off his life-changing week, Mastin’s debut single, Good Night, is now number one in the Australian iTunes chart.

His debut album will be released on December 9.

Much of Mastin’s family still live in North Lincolnshire and he plans to return there to perform.

He said: “I’m trying to come back to Scnthorpe and perform a few shows there.”

The singer said he was grateful for the support he has received from the UK.

“It’s cool to get be getting support back from England as well. So I’m happy the family is still back there, still supporting.”

Mastin, whose hero is Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, said his pop career would not stop him completing his education.

He said: “I really want to finish year 12. I think it is important. I’m going to try and get a tutor and hopefully get through year 12, but year 11′s finished.”
