‘Atlas Shrugged’, Atlas Shrugged: Part 1 hits select theaters in the United States today. And yes, I loved the theater “theater.” Probably the result of watching too many Inside The Actors Studio interviews when I was unemployed.
Anyway, it’s a shame that this film has not been done so far – I mean, the book came out in, and there really is no excuse for not making something with a loyal audience in a film franchise.
Furthermore, shame on Hollywood for being too scared to take in a movie that promotes the “radical” views that making money is more or less well, and the extent of government control over industry is bad.
One could argue that Hollywood executives happens simply because the writing of Ayn Rand is not convincing enough – and yes, sometimes, writes a bit like filling up an airplane in flight – but this argument is still deeply flawed … I mean, Twilight came to the big screen. Like The Notebook, and countless other works by far the merit much less than the total contribution of Rand very important to society.
The film is apparently the first of a three part series (the book was super long, so it’s hard to condense all that into a movie.) In other words, this is the Star Wars prequel trilogy to the Wall Street banker and part-time right of Fox News set.
A rich uncle who likes the message behind Atlas Shrugged funded it. Estimated 15 million budget and more or less, according to IMDB.
Regardless of their political beliefs, go see the movie this week. No stars are attached, but the trailer looks great. I am sure that if this monster becomes effective at the box office, the next installment will enjoy a budget much larger production.
