Atlantis Found?

Atlantis Found?, According to recent news reports, Atlantis (which means “island of Atlas”) may have been found! On Sunday, National Geographic aired Find Atlantis. The special showed evidence that the city of fairy tale of Atlantis may actually exist, and that they can be found. Explorers think it might be under some swampland in southern Spain.

The legendary island has been the focus of numerous books and films, but what exactly was Atlantis? Plato mentioned Atlantis. In his account: Atlantis was a naval power lying “opposite the Pillars of Hercules.” The power conquered many parts of Western Europe and Africa around 9600 BC. After a failed attempt to invade Athens, Atlantis sank in the ocean “in a single day and night of misfortune”.

Scholars still dispute whether Plato’s account is real or imaginary, and how he was inspired by the ancient traditions … as the Trojan War or the failed invasion of Sicily in Athens 415-413 BC.

The authors have always been interested in the validity of the story of Plato, and wrote about it throughout history. Most authors challenge and reject the idea that Atlantis was a real place. Author Alan Cameron said: “It is only in modern times that people took the story seriously Atlantis, nobody did in antiquity.”

Atlantis continues to inspire today’s entertainment from literature to cinema. Atlantis name became synonymous with everything and everyone supposedly advanced prehistoric civilizations.
