December 7, 2010 by staff

Assange Arrested, The founder of Wikileaks was arrested in London on a Swedish sex crime charge.

The action comes a week and a half after the release of State Department cables to new organizations and via the Internet, which will continue depending on the load Wikileaks Twitter. “Today’s actions against our editor Julian Assange have no impact on our business,” said the tweet.

Assange takes place on a “surprise sex” charge. He was not arrested for the rape; the sex in question was consensual. Apparently, the question is whether or not a condom was used and whether the woman request. The load, only part of the Swedish penal code and not the UK, punishable by a fine of 5,000 kronor, or $ 715. To summarize, Interpol issued an international arrest warrant, and Great Britain, honored for Sweden, a case which has a $ 715 fine and no jail time. Assange pleaded innocent to the charge. The complete police report is available here.

Assange published an editorial in The Australian today, the defense of its organization and output cables the State Department.

Wikileaks has invented a new type of journalism: science journalism. We work with other media to bring people the news, but also to prove that is true. Science journalism allows you to read a news story, then click online to see the original document, it is based. In this way you can judge for yourself: Is this story true? Did the journalist to report accurately?

Democratic societies need a solid support and Wikileaks is part of the medium. The media contributes to maintaining an honest government. Wikileaks has revealed some harsh truths about the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and broken stories on corporate corruption.

People have said I am anti-war for the record, I’m not. Sometimes nations need to go to war, and there are just wars. But nothing is more unfair for the government to lie to his people about these wars, and then ask these same people to put their lives and their taxes on line for these lies. If a war is justified, telling the truth and people will decide to support it.

If you’ve read one of the Afghans or the war in Iraq newspapers, one of the cables U.S. Embassy or one of the stories about what Wikileaks said, realize how important it is for all media to be able to to report these things freely.

Assange says many media Wikileaks published documents, and although his organization had been attacks by the governments of the world, to stop it. He accused the government of “trying to shoot the messenger because he does not want the truth revealed.”

In just today the release Wikileaks, as if to prove the point Assange speaks minimize U.S. officials with the Taliban, after publicly hyping the possibility of reconciliation that the only way to end the war. The cables also show that Hamid Karzai is disinterested and the U.S., to give the Taliban a role in the Afghan government, which means that whatever negotiations took place are essentially meaningless. It simply means that the war is doomed to spend literally forever, with each side unable to achieve transfer, but seeks anyway.
