Ashley Turton, (AP) – A lobbyist from Washington, who was the wife of a White House adviser, was found dead in a burning car in south Washington.

Progress Energy said in a statement Monday that Ashley Turton was dead. Property records show she and her husband, Dan Turton, lived in a house in southeast Washington DC, where firefighters found a body in a burning car.

DC fire spokesman Pete Piringer says the Department firefighters were called to a townhouse and found a burning car.

Turton was a lobbyist for Progress Energy Inc. Mike Hughes, a spokesman for the Raleigh, NC-based Company, says co-workers were devastated to learn of the death of Turton. Turton said he was the mother of three young children.

Turton joined the company in 2007 after serving as chief of staff to U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro.
