Ashley Phalen, (AP) – A woman drove a replica Indy car racing on a wall at high speed and died while participating in the experience of Mario Andretti driving a motor racing track in southern California.
The coroner’s office in San Bernardino County said that 24 years old, Ashley Phalen of Los Angeles was killed early Friday when his vehicle crashed into a wall and overturned in the Auto Club Motor Speedway in Fontana. She died at a nearby hospital.
Phalen was participating in what is described in andrettiracing.com as the “world’s fastest racing experience.” The site says that people can drive a racecar with 600 horsepower for a session of eight minutes and reached speeds up to 160 kilometers per hour.
A telephone message after hours Andretti Driving Experience was not immediately returned.
