Ashley Blumenshine, A woman from North Plainfield High School teacher would have had a sexual relationship with a student 16 years old male was released from the Will County Jail on Wednesday evening and the 75,000 bail.
Ashley Blumenshine, 27, of 4316 Nutmeg Lane, Lisle, was arrested early this morning on a charge of felony criminal sexual assault after she was discovered with the student at about 6:20 p.m. Tuesday in a car parked in the parking lot of the store Kohl’s, 11860 Route 59, Plainfield.
A county judge circuit set bail at 75,000, and requiring a bond and 7,500 to be posted before Blumenshine could be released from the detention facility for adults in the county of Will. According to reports, Plainfield police stopped to check on two cars that appeared suspicious. The couple was found in one car, Blumenshine sitting in the driver’s seat and the student in the back seat. Blumenshine, a physical education teacher at Plainfield North High School, worked for Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 since 2006, district officials said. The student attends Northern Plains.
In addition to teaching physical education, Blumenshine also worked in District 202 as a coach for golf and gymnastics girl’s girl’s teams. She was credited with the choreography of a dance class 1, “Janet Jackson / Kesha Mix” at Salon 2010 Spring Dance, according to information on the website of the Borough, www.psd202.org.
Police Chief William Doster said he believed that the relationship has been ongoing for about a month. The couple met “socially” and never Blumenshine child’s teacher, “he said.
District spokesman Tom Hernandez said the board and the school would take “appropriate action” after Blumenshine is released. Arrangements have been made for a substitute teacher to assume the tasks of teaching Blumenshine; Hernandez said in a statement released Wednesday morning.
