Armored Car Heist

March 3, 2012 by staff

Armored Car Heist, City police are still searching for Kenneth J. Konias Jr., the Dravosburg man accused of killing his fellow armored truck guard and stealing more than $2 million.

Pittsburgh police Lt. Daniel Herrmann on Friday said police received reports of sightings in other states, but they yielded nothing.

Police filed an arrest warrant on Wednesday charging Konias, 22, with homicide, robbery and theft. He is accused of fatally shooting Michael Haines, 31, of East McKeesport on Tuesday.

Police and Garda Cash Logistics employees found Haines’ body in the cargo area of the truck while it idled on 31st Street in the Strip District near the company’s facility.

Garda has offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to the capture and conviction of Konias, whose case is featured on the FBI’s website. Call Pittsburgh police at 412-323-7161 or 911 with information.
