Arian Foster Injury

Arian Foster InjuryArian Foster Injury, Virtually no one expects the Indianapolis Colts Peyton Manning to play in week one against the Houston Texans. Now, the Texans could be without one of their lifelines, and offense – running back Arian Foster – in the crucial match of the AFC South.

In his press conference after the game after a 30-7 thrashing of the hapless San Francisco 49ers in a meaningless preseason game, a game that saw Foster limp into the background after his luggage session of the first quarter, Texans coach Gary Kubiak said it’s “only hope” that injury hamstring Foster does not stop.

“I do not think it’s anything more serious than it was before,” said Kubiak. “I’m just waiting … to be ready for opening day.”

Foster – who racked up an NFL-high and 2220 meters Texans record of the line of scrimmage in starting the 2010 season – injured his hamstring on the first day of training camp. He skipped 11 days of practice and the preseason opener, but he looked like his old, explosive, fast cutting himself on his back – part of an impressive show in the first team offense against the Saints in New Orleans an NFC Super Bowl contender fray.

As soon as Foster made a motion in the bearing against the 49ers Saturday night eighth, it was evident that he had hurt again though. More hamstring problems, the type of injury has been known to stay for a while.

Now waiting anxiously to see if he recovers in time for the Colts game September 11 at Reliant Stadium begins. The Texans are much better options to play than Foster (sophomore Ben Tate wonder and veteran Derrick Ward) Manning the Colts does to replace (the signing of Kerry Collins retirement strikes fear in the hearts of anyone – except maybe Kerry Collins).

But Texans are not close to the same team without multi-dimensional Foster gifts either. Kubiak said Foster’s injury is not the only concern of the game. But what is a coach to say?

For more information about the injury and therefore I believe that Kubiak should be kicking himself for playing unapologetically Foster, much more than it should have against the 49ers, check out a full CultureMap column on the subject.
