Angry Birds, Angry Bird is a puzzle game developed by Finland-based Rovio Mobile, where players use a catapult to birds to pigs stationed on or in different structures to launch, with the intention of destroying all pigs on the court. Inspired by a simple sketch of stylized wingless birds, the game was first released for IOS Apple in December 2009. Since then, more than 12 million copies of the game is purchased from Apple’s App Store, which has prompted the company to versions for other touchscreen-based smartphones, including those using the Android and Symbian ^ 3 operating systems design. Rovio Mobile has supported Angry Birds with lots of free updates that add extra game content, and the company has even released a stand-alone holiday versions of the game.

Angry Birds was praised for its successful combination of addictive gameplay, comic style, and low price. His popularity has led to versions of Angry Birds created for personal computers and game consoles, a market for goods with the characters and even long-term plans for a movie or TV series. With over 50 million downloads across all platforms, the game is “one of the most mainstream games out right now” and “one of the runaway hits of 2010″.

In Angry Birds, players take control of a flock of birds trying to eggs that have been stolen by a group of evil green pigs here. At each level, the pigs are protected by structures made of different materials such as wood, stone and ice, and the goal of the game is to eliminate all pigs in the level. Using a catapult, players launch of the birds with the intention of either hitting the pigs directly or damage to structures that would lead to the collapse and kill the pigs. At different stages of the game, additional items such as explosive crates and rocks found in the levels, and can be used in conjunction with the birds to destroy hard-to-pig away.

There are several species of birds in the game. In the earliest levels, basic red bird is the only one available. If the player advances through the game, extra birds are available, some of which have special abilities that are activated by tapping the touchscreen, while the bird in the air. For example, a blue bird will be separated into three smaller birds, a black bird will explode and a white bird will drop explosive eggs. The pigs themselves in different sizes. While small pigs are relatively weak and can be easily destroyed by direct hits or by debris from damaged structures, larger pigs are able to support more damage. Also, some pigs and helmet armor, making them more resistant to damage.

Each level begins with the number, types and order of birds predetermined. If all pigs are defeated by the time the last bird is used, the level is completed and the next level is unlocked. Points are scored for each pig and defeated as for damage to or destruction of structures, and bonus points are awarded for unused birds. After completing each level, players receive one, two or three stars, depending on the score received. Players can retry levels as often as they like, and can replay completed levels in an attempt to improve their score.

The first IOS version of the game contained a single episode titled “poached eggs” in which three levels of theme groups, each containing 21 levels. From time to time, Rovio has released free upgrades that include extra content like new levels, new in-game objects and even new birds. If updates are released, they are included in the full version of the game offered to download the application from any platform to store.

The first update released in February 2010, added a new episode called “Mighty Hoax” with two new themes with 1921 levels. Updates in April 2010 added the “Golden Eggs” feature, which placed golden eggs hidden throughout the game, the bonus content when found, and a new episode called “Danger Above”, which initially contained a single theme of the 1915 levels. Two updates later added two more themes to “Danger Above ‘, each with 15 levels. “The Big Setup” episode, with two new themes, new levels and 15 additional levels Golden Egg, was added in June 2010. “The Big Setup” later had two themes of 15 levels.

A fifth episode called “Ham ‘Em high,” launched in December 2010, in celebration of the first game of the year at the Apple Store. “Ham ‘Em high” contains 15 levels in a single theme, and a new bird, called the mighty eagle, which can be used to clear each level. The mighty eagle is offered as a one-time, in-game to buy and use is limited to one per hour for unfinished levels. Once a level is completed using only the standard birds, this restriction is lifted. The mighty eagle can then be used in the previously completed levels to a mini-game called “Total Destruction” in which the player tries to destroy as much of the landscape, both with the standard birds and play the mighty eagle, reaching 100 % earns the player destroy a mighty eagle feathers for the level.

The Birds Evil characters are referenced in television programs around the world. The Israeli comedy show Eretz Nehederet (in English: a beautiful country), one of the nation’s most popular TV programs, the Evil Birds presented in a mock-up draft peace treaty. The skit satire recent failed Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts. The video quickly went viral all over the world. She received positive coverage from a variety of independent blogs like, and and online news media agencies, such as Haaretz, The Christian Science Monitor, The Guardian, and MSNBC. In December 2010, the American talk show host Conan O ‘Brien made the game in a comedy sketch on his TBS series Conan.

Rovio Angry Birds explores ways to brand, including merchandise, television shows and movies to expand. The game’s official website offers plush versions of the birds and pigs for sale, along with T-shirt with the logo and game characters. Mattel will distribute an evil board game Birds, entitled “Angry Birds: Knock on Wood”, starting in May 2011. Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio Mobile has in mind a feature film in stop-motion animation style of Aardman Animation. Hed recognizes that such a film would be years away, and that Rovio the characters to remain relevant until then, by producing new sequels or ports of the original game.
