Andy Whitfield Actor, Andy Whitfield, Welsh-born 39 year old player with an impressive physique that was a star of the series from Starz Spartacus: Blood and Sand, died Sunday in Sydney, Australia, a victim of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. It has been said of his boss and wife who died in sunny Sydney morning “in the” arms of his beloved wife. “He had lived in Australia since enrolling at the University of Western Sydney, an engineering student.
Whitfield, who made his way to acting late (in their mid 30? S) was building a reputation for himself in the series, but was forced to leave him when he was diagnosed 18 months ago.
Starz says President and CEO Chris Albrecht; “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend and colleague, Andy Whitfield,
“We were fortunate to have worked with Andy in Spartacus and came to know that the man who played a champion in the screen was also champion in his own life. Andy was an inspiration to us all when faced with this very personal, with courage, strength and grace. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. He lives in the hearts of his family, friends and fans. ”
Whitfield was also one of the stars of the horror film The Clinic (coming to DVD in the UK next month, the review is already working) and a leading role in the Australian thriller where it seemed that Gabriel could become in the next Sam Worthington.
