Andy Rooney Condition, Radio and accessory legend Andy Rooney 60 minutes on Friday night died at a hospital in New York. Rooney had only made its final approval as a weekly commentator on the CBS program a little over a month, and was in stable condition after complications from minor surgery last week.
Rooney’s final essay for 60 minutes was a classic example of his trademark blend of wit clarity, humility and grace. He concluded his last essay, thanking those who had achieved over the years:
This is a moment I feared. I wish I could do this forever. Although I can not. But I am withdrawing. Writers do not retire, I will always be a writer.
Many of you have sent me wonderful letters to me and said nice things about me when I meet on the street. It was not always nice about it. Accepting that she liked. I do not say this often, but thanks. Even if you see me in a restaurant, please let me eat my food.
