Andrew Cuomo, In one of his last acts as attorney general, Andrew Cuomo, now the governor announced the award of approximately $ 13 million and grants to be funded by the colonies, he reached in his investigation of student loan history. “Students Grants Empowerment” will be awarded to the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (“Human embryonic stem cells”) and the State of New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) and will be devoted to programs that help students and their families make informed choices when funding for higher education.
Fund grants have been obtained by Cuomo’s historical survey of the student loan industry, which has exposed conflicts of interest and to reform the domestic industry. The grants will be used to develop and implement a national live operator call center staff and a website and a campaign PSAs. The call center and Web site will provide impartial advice and information for students and families on the lowest cost options education funding and help for borrowers struggling to make their payments. The national campaign’s TV public service will provide consumer education and awareness of resources available through the call center.
“Students, alumni and their families will now have a reliable source of information on financing graduate school, as well as assistance if they have trouble making their payments,” Cuomo said. “We ended corrupt conflicts of interest between lenders and universities, the reform of the industry with new state and federal laws, and will now implement additional resources for students and their families by helping them make financial decisions “.
