Andrea Rescue MeAndrea Rescue Me, Say goodbye to the boys of 62 trucks in New York – and with them the best drama series on FX has been transmitted.

More consistent damage, more real and true The Shield (ghosts and all), Rescue Me (10 ET / PT) ends one pounds seven years tonight, four days before the anniversary of the attacks that stoked his creative fires . Let’s run another series to return to normal. Rescue Me and its damage due hero Tommy Gavin, played so brilliantly by the co-creator Denis Leary, insisted that “normal” was no longer an option.

Tonight, however, a contact in the final 80 minutes of providing the type of closure for fans desire without closing the fictional universe of the series, Tommy finally begins to move forward. It does so by using the latest tragedy to reach an agreement with the first.

It is not giving anything to say that Tommy indeed survive, Leary and the strength of the show driving the other hand, Peter Tolan, Tommy had promised would not die. That made no promises as to his teammates, and it would be unreasonable for anyone who has been exposed to Rescue Me is clear and the assessment of the risks of life is to wait for everyone to get out alive.

Death, of course, nothing new on television. Rescue Me What mixture was brought to his wild Irish-wake approach to mortality – changes in the tail, sometimes frantic between tragedy and comedy, rejecting any idea of ??an indifferent acceptance of the inevitable. Tommy down, Rescue Me characters lived life to the fullest, so much so that when he died, sometimes refused to go.

Building a show around a main character who was literally and figuratively, was chased always a risk, aggravated by a fearless willingness to push that character Leary beyond the bounds of decency. Tommy flaws and obsessions are often played for laughs, but often allowed to operate in times of anger, brutal, painful.

However, anger was not the only color in the palette of Rescue Me. This is a show that was willing to let their characters do and say all kinds of funny things socially unacceptable, knowing that the cast could redeem them. And what a wonderful cast, from Leary and John SCURTI including Daniel Sunjata, Steven Pasquale, Michael Lombardi, Adam Ferrara, Larenz Tate, Lenny Clarke and two women valuable, Andrea Roth and Callie Thorne.

Rescue Me this night ends as it began: Tommy addressing a group of rookies. Do not have the answer to the guilt of survival, but now knows that “you can not drink or fight or screw” their way to find out. For Tommy, it’s a big step. And television is much better for having seen him take it.
