Andrea BocelliAndrea Bocelli, The famous Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli to perform a free concert in Central Park in New York, which will be filmed for a PBS special.

The 52-year-old says the concert, which will take place on September 15, fulfilled the dream of his late father. Hundreds of people lined up at various places in the city on Thursday, August 4, to try to get tickets. At 3 pm EST, most vendors have been sold, according to the website of the event.

Bocelli has performed in New York before. The concert in Central Park, who is accompanied by the New York Philharmonic and Westminster Symphonic Choir, special guests and music that have not yet been announced.

The “Andrea Bocelli Live in Central Park” special will air on PBS on December 2 at 9 pm and is scheduled to be released on CD and DVD in November.

“I can not help but smile when thinking about the upcoming concert in Central Park,” said Andrea Bocelli, in a statement. “It was the dream of my father and my father was right, because my artistic career would have been totally different without the strong and sincere embrace of this extraordinary city where everything is possible, even when it seems impossible.”

Bocelli father, Sandro, died in 2000. Hours after his death, the singer performed for the Pope in Rome as part of a prior commitment, then flew to attend the funeral of his father.

“My father will not be there, but I can count his blessings and kind and friendly smile to give me courage,” Bocelli said about his upcoming free concert. “My mother, sitting in the front row sits my father, and they will be together again like when I was a child performs on the steps fireplace. Maybe secretly dreamed I could have the opportunity to perform in New York City, and perhaps here in Central Park. ”

Bocelli has sold over 70 million albums and performed around the world. In December, Bocelli is planning concerts in other cities in the United States, including Las Vegas, Washington, DC, and Anaheim, California.

The singer’s 1995 hit song “Time To Say Goodbye” has been featured in several films, including 2008 will be the Will Ferrell comedy “Step Brothers.”

Bocelli is also known for his single “The Prayer”, a duet with Celine Dion. The song appeared in the 1998 movie cartoon “Quest for Camelot” and won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song.

In 2006, Bocelli became a Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. He was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010.
