Andre 3000 Wrote Ms. Jackson About Erykah Badu, During an appearance on the talk show “Chelsea Lately” to promote her “New Amerykah Part II: Return of The Ankh” last year,
Erykah Badu addressed a number of outstanding issues: namely, the urban legend that when men look her in the eye, they fall in love and start wearing crotchet pants (“It’s either two gifts,” she said, “the crocheted pants or the Italian or French man purse”); and the story that ex-flame Andre 3000 wrote the Outkast song “Ms. Jackson” to apologize to her mom.
Badu told host Chelsea Handler she didn’t know for sure but she said her mom loved it regardless. “It was her chance at stardom,” she said. “She got the airbrushed Ms. Jackson shirt, the bobble head doll, it was on her screensaver. She had the ringtone. That was her chance so I just let it be.”
