Anchorman I Love Lamps

January 5, 2012 by staff

Anchorman I Love Lamps, Brian Niznansky was left red-faced after his director slipped the quote into his script after a segment on cats. The meteorologist on local NBC channel WGBA, began saying: ‘In other news, I love lamp…’

When he realised the words he was uttering he was visibly embarrassed. His co-anchor didn’t make the incident any easier for him.

She immediately burst out in laughter and said: ‘Oh my God, he totally fell for it.’

After laughing a bit more, she added: ‘Brian will read anything put on the teleprompter and that is just proof right there.’

The prank was reminiscent to one played on Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) in Anchorman. During his vicious feud with Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) he is tricked into saying ridiculous things that are put up on a teleprompter.

The ‘I love lamp’ line itself comes from a scene in the movie when Brick Tamland, played by Steve Carell, starts saying he loves random things in the office.

After the initial embarrassment of the prank, weatherman Niznansky saw the funny side to the joke and tweeted: ‘Director Nik just put “I love lamp” in the teleprompter… and yes I read it. #anchorman.’
