Amtrak Stabbing Suspect Set To Face Charges

December 8, 2014 by

Amtrak Stabbing Suspect Set To Face Charges, A Michigan man suspected in the Friday evening stabbing of four people aboard a Detroit-bound Amtrak train, including the conductor, is expected to be arraigned, authorities said.

Michael Williams, 44, will be charged Monday with multiple counts of attempted murder for the brutal attack that horrified passengers and left blood smeared inside at least one train car.

The Saginaw man is currently being held on a $1 million bond at the Berrien County Jail for the stabbing spree that occurred in Niles, Michigan, about 10 miles north of South Bend, Indiana — where the campus of Notre Dame University is located.

Police subdued the knife-wielding suspect on the scene after shooting him with a Taser gun.

A picture provided to AOL News by one of the train’s 173 passengers showed him handcuffed and face-down inside the train car.

Initial reports suggested one of Williams’ four victims was either dead or barely clinging to life, but authorities later said all four victims are in stable condition at a local hospital. The deranged man did not know any of them prior to the stabbings.

Passengers told local media that Williams was acting “odd” before attacking just as police boarded the train. His victims identities have yet to be released.

No motive has been given for the attacks.
