Amare Stoudemire, Today rumors of an Amare Stoudemire trade started popping up and it seemed like the New York Knicks might have actually sought the interest level of the New Orleans Hornets. The rumors involved sending Stoudemire to the Hornets for point guard Chris Paul, and it immediately seemed like the Knicks were risking a lot by even mentioning that scenario.
ESPN’s Chris Broussard took to his Twitter account to post, “Don’t think NYK out of CP3 Hunt if it gets Ty Chandler. Ty & CP r close friends. Most likely, Amare would hit trade market.” Then ESPN’s Marc Stein went to Twitter to state, “Now to see if Knicks elect to put Amare Stoudemire in trade proposals to New Orleans for CP3. Sources say it’s one option Knicks considering.”
Well a deal between the Knicks and Hornets never took place, and it ended up becoming the Los Angeles Lakers that swooped in to make a deal to acquire Paul. The problem here is that if Stein was being honest in his report, then the Knicks were seriously considering putting Stoudemire on the open market after his first season with the team. That is not something that one of the two best players on the Knicks would want to hear, and the danger here is Stoudemire feeling that the Knicks don’t value his contributions to the franchise anymore.
