Amanda Knox Latest News, Amanda Knox, now 24, is in the final stretch of her appeal. The Seattle native has been jailed in Italy since 2007, when he was charged and convicted of murdering her British partner.
Before the first hearing after summer vacation began, the sister of the victim Meredith Kercher, Stephanie, sent a letter asking the appellate court to evaluate “every (piece) of the evidence.”
“My sister, a daughter brutal and selfish, we took about 4 years ago – and yet not a single day that goes by that we understand any peace or closure,” wrote Stephanie Kercher.
Knowing claims of innocence seem to be supported by the testimony of independent experts who questioned many of the tests that were collected in the investigations. This is particularly important when the DNA is used to tie Knox with murder. Experts in their appeal to the conclusion that poor standards of procedure performed in collecting it and the small amount of DNA used to test the sample made it impossible to provide a certain genetic profile.
“There were aspects of the case to be addressed, which addressed, and now nothing remains of the case,” said Knox’s stepfather, Chris Nicks, told the AP.
The prosecution argues that the evidence should be, and Kercher’s family insist they have confidence in the police and the system that originally sentenced Knox.
In her written statement, Stephanie Kercher against what she called a “frenzy of the media” about the case, claiming that, “Meredith has been forgotten, because she is no longer with us, however, this is around and what really happened that tragic night. “
