Album Hard BargainAlbum Hard Bargain, Emmylou Harris career has spanned four decades. She has been inducted into the Hall of Fame Country, won 12 Grammy Awards and has worked with numerous music legends including Bob Dylan and Neil Young. Occasionally, the lead singer / songwriter has to take a step back and take it all in.

“Sometimes you have to pinch a bit,” Harris said. “At first when my boss told me he made 107 in the list, I could not believe it. I just wanted to make a record and maybe play a few people with music.”

Harris has released 26 studio albums (with a total of 14 other compilation and live albums) and will be at the peak of the Mountain Resort in Greek Cortland on Friday to perform in support of their latest album, “Hard Bargain, “which was released in late April.

“I have a great band,” said Harris. “We will play some songs from new album and try to incorporate songs from the past 30 years or more.

“I’m finding fans only want to hear what is the record of that particular night. Some are surprised at the amount of old stuff they play in comparison to the new material.”

Harris said he has a favorite song – which has had five No. 1 singles country and has sold over 5.5 million records – to find songs can mean different things depending on when they hear them.

“Each song can have more than one meaning at different points in their lives, even on a particular day,” he said. “You hope you can connect with the audience on some level emotionally. Expected to reach the people at that level and maybe makes them think a little.”

Harris is traveling the country on this tour with two rescue dogs from the shelter he founded in her home in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2004. As part of her tour and work, likes to promote animal shelters and education. Bonaparte founded Refuge retreat after a dog of the same name died suddenly on the road while touring.

“In a way, I’m doing something locally to discuss issues and raise awareness,” he said. “It’s good to put forth to make people think a little.”

After her tour, she is planning to do an album with the group of three girls and their friends, a collaborative effort that has to do with including Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin and Buddy Miller.

The group has collaborated for years, including the realization of the other albums at the same time playing together.
