Air Miles Expiry Date

Air Miles Expiry DateAir Miles Expiry Date, Air Miles announced Friday that points collected under the popular loyalty program now have a best-before date.

And if you don’t use them … well, you’re out of luck.

“Starting Dec. 31, 2011, all Air Miles reward miles will have a date stamp of five years,” the company said on its website. “This means that any reward miles that have been earned before December 31, 2011, will need to be redeemed by December 31, 2016.”

Previously, there was no expiration date on Air Miles, which are earned at hundreds of retailers across Canada ranging from liquor outlets to gas stations.

The points can be redeemed for travel and merchandise.

Aeroplan, the loyalty program for Air Canada, announced expiration dates on its plan several years ago.
