A plane crash that occurred overnight near Dillingham, Alaska is concern that led to the deaths of which could be the troubled former Alaska Senator Ted Stevens.
Stevens was known to be traveling at night to Agulowak Lodge, owned by the same company, GCI, owned the plane that crashed. The plane was a small jet engine carrying eight passengers at the time of the accident. The weather in the area were poor, but medical rescue teams have arrived at the scene.
Ted Stevens lost his seat in the Senate in 2008 after being indicted by a federal grand jury for failing to report gifts received from the VECO Corporation. Stevens was one of the longest running Senators at the time of trial, after having been in the Senate since 1968.
Stevens is 86 years and is currently married to Catherine Ann Chandler.
UPDATE 16:42 EST: It has been confirmed that Stevens was on the plane and was among the fatalities.
