91 Freeway Closure, Highway 91 was closed for more than two hours during evening rush hour as authorities inspected a suspicious vehicle parked in Corona. 15:00 authorities closed the eastbound 91 at the 71 and 91 to the west in 241, CHP dispatchers said, snarling rush-hour traffic in the transport corridor with heavy traffic. The road was opened briefly for about 15 minutes to relieve congestion around 4:30 pm, and then was fully opened shortly after 17:00 The closing came as authorities investigate Corona U-Haul truck in the lot of Coco restaurant parking lot adjacent to the motorway in the 4700 block of Green River Road.
Police responded about 10:45 am to see the vehicle, which had been parked in the area for two days, Corona police Sgt. Frank Barron said. The car windows were covered with newspapers, blocking the view inside, and an unknown liquid leaking from the vehicle, said Barron. A hazardous materials team and the Riverside Sheriff’s Department bomb squad were called to the scene. The highway was closed and evacuated nearby businesses as they investigated the truck. Using a robot, authorities were able to see inside the vehicle, Barron said, the discovery of an unconscious woman. The woman was taken to hospital but his condition is unknown, said Barron.
