365 Marathons In 365 Days, A man is 365 marathons in 365 days. Stefan Engles, 48, is known as the “Marathon Man”. Engels is now the owner of the Guinness World Record for consecutive marathons. He achieved the record on February 5 in Barcelona. Belgian rider has claimed a new world record Saturday by completing marathons 365 in as many days. Stefan Engels, 49, crossed the finish line on the final straight in the Spanish city of Barcelona after running in several countries in Europe and the United States, Canada and Mexico during the year. Some of these tests were in marathon competitions. According to the Guinness Book of Records, the previous record for most runs the marathon on two consecutive days was 52 and was directed by Akinori Kusuda Japan in 2009.
Engels already holds the record for most Ironman triathlon in a year after 20 in 2007 and 2008. “I do not consider my year marathon of torture. It looks more like a regular job,” Engels, who started running marathons 20 years ago, said on its website. “I’m running just like average Joe goes to work on Monday morning, whether or not he wants. “I do not always want to run, but when I’m done, I take a shower, physiotherapy for an hour and ended my day.”
At 26 miles and 385 yards, the marathon is one of the hardest tests of human endurance. Within three to five hours, it takes most people at the end, many things can go wrong: pulled muscles, dehydration and heat stroke are just some of the obstacles that plague runners. Some people are lucky enough to avoid these pitfalls and finish strong, while the best can run multiple marathons in one year. Then there Stefaan Engels. In a display of endurance that puts Forrest Gump across America look like a walk in the park, Engels ran a marathon a day for an entire year without a single day off. The 49-year-old from Belgium, began operations in Barcelona and along the way ran the marathon in Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom and the United States.
