$336 Million Powerball Jackpot
February 13, 2012 by staff
$336 Million Powerball Jackpot, A Saturday Powerball ticket worth $1 million was sold in Brookfield, a Milwaukee suburb, but the huge $336.4 million jackpot went to a single winning ticket sold in Rhode Island.
The Wisconsin Lottery said the $1 million Powerball winner here was the first of that amount since the multi-state game increased prize money along with doubling the price of a single play ticket from $1 to $2.
Before the jackpot and price increases, having the five regular numbers but not the Powerball number paid out $200,000.
The Brookfield ticket had the five regular numbers of 1, 10, 37, 52 and 57, but not the Powerball of 11.
The Rhode Island ticket had all five numbers plus the Powerball number.
Two $10,000 winners in Saturday’s drawing were also from Wisconsin, with those tickets sold in Algoma and Nichols.
The $1 million winner has to claim the prize at the Wisconsin Lottery headquarters in Madison within 180 days of the drawing.
The Powerball jackpot is now $40 million for the Wednesday drawing. The jackpot used to start out at $20 million before the ticket price doubled.
