2012 Volkswagen Beetle, Volkswagen is the use of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” as a launching pad for its new design of the beetle, although the date of the order for sale is a year away. The talk-show host showed a silhouette of his Volkswagen Beetle 2012, and then announced it would give a new Beetle for each member of the studio audience.

The introduction is part of the automaker’s plan to raise the profile of the beetle and the rest of their models, which has done everything possible to make it more attractive to U.S. consumers. The new Beetle is also intended to strengthen the image of the company as a sports car with enough performance to attract fans, not just buyers looking for something “nice.”

Volkswagen says Winfrey mentioned the beetle between his favorite things. “And if you follow Oprah, you know who likes to share her favorite things,” says Jonathan Browning, CEO of Volkswagen Group of America.

Winfrey, who drives a current model of the Beetle, Volkswagen asked for help to recognize the contributions of some viewers, giving each one of the cars. Volkswagen said it proposed to give the redesigned model. The company says it is donating 275 of the 2,012 beetles plus taxes and fees.
