2012 Hyundai Veloster, Official images and key details of the 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo have leaked online ahead of the three-door sport car’s unveiling at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in the coming hours.
The new Veloster Turbo is powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine with 150kW of power and 265Nm of torque, putting it within striking distance of hot hatches like the Volkswagen Golf GTI and the MINI Cooper JCW (both 155kW/280Nm). A six-speed automatic transmission will be available as an option to the standard six-speed manual.
The Turbo variant will have 47kW/98Nm more power and torque than the entry-level Veloster, which is equipped with the same engine as the Kia Rio Si and SLi variants in Australia.
The standard Veloster arrives in Australia next month, and although the Turbo has been confirmed for our market, Hyundai Australia says it has no indication of when it will hit local showrooms at this stage.
The Veloster Turbo gets a revised front end with a gaping radiator grille and redesigned fog lights. The profile gets sportier side skirts, while at the rear there’s a new bumper with large diffuser, dual exhaust outlets and reshaped reflectors.
From the images we can see the interior scores leather sports seats with white stitching, inserts and Turbo embroidery.
The full details will be revealed at the unveiling of the Hyundai Veloster Turbo at Detroit in the next 24 hours. Stay tuned for more information live from the show.
