2011 MTV VMA Nominees2011 MTV VMA Nominees, Katy Perry is at the head of the nominees for the 28th edition of the MTV Video Music Awards with nine nominations. The pop star videos of “fireworks”, “ET” and “Last Friday Night (TGIF)” will compete for Video of the Year, Best Female Video and Best Video Pop Collaboration

On the heels of Perry are Adele and Kanye West with seven each, followed by Bruno Mars (four) and Beyonce, Eminem, Lady Gaga, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Nicki Minaj (three each). VMA nominees First People’s parenting time, Manchester Orchestra and Tyler, the Creator, each have two nominations as well as the Beastie Boys, Chris Brown, Pitbull and Lil Wayne.

Adele nominations are all for her, “Rolling in the Deep,” while West include three songs: “All the lights,” with Rihanna & Kid Cudi (Male Video, Hip-Hop video, and collaboration); Perry “ET” (collaboration) and the West itself “Power” (art direction). Three of the proposed Mars are “Granada,” his “Song lazy” Moonman vying for Choreography.

Competition for the best video of the year to face three big hits – Perry “fireworks” Mars “Granada” and Adele “Rolling in the Deep” – against Tyler, the creator of “Yonkers” and the Beastie Boys’ “Make Some Noise.”

Best New Artist nominees are heavy on hip-hop with Wiz Khalifa (“Black and Yellow”), Tyler, The Creator (“Yonkers”), Big Sean (“My Last” with Chris Brown), and phenomena Internet Kreayshawn “Gucci Gucci” Foster goes against the People (“Water Pump Kicks”).

Like many ceremonies VMA, the antics of an artist proceedings tend to stifle trophy. The big winner in 2010 with eight trophies was Lady Gaga, who is remembered for appearing in a dress made of meat. This year is for Female Video (“Born This Way”) and choreography (“Judas”) – won two categories at the ceremony last year – more art direction (“Judas”).

Other winners last year nominated for awards 2011 are Eminem (Male Video, Direction, Photography), Thirty Seconds to Mars (direction, cinematography, editing) and the Black Keys (Video of Rock).

The Video Music Awards for the 14 categories announced on Wednesday night (July 20) will be presented on August 28 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
