2011 Album Of The Year, Arcade Fire Get the award for Best Album of the year, (CBS) – Arcade Fire captured album of the year at the Grammy Awards Sunday night for “suburbs”, a surprise victory that left Eminem excluded in all categories above. It was the only group winner of the night, they had been nominated for two other awards. They beat the Lady Antebellum “Need You Now,” Katy Perry “Teenage Dream,” Monster The Fame “Lady Gaga Eminem and” Recovery “- the 2010 best-selling album – to win the trophy.

It’s already the third time Eminem has lost the trophy for best album. He led all candidates with 10 heading into the night, but won only two awards: best rap album and best rap solo performance.

British rock band Muse made its debut in the Grammy and won the best rock album for “The Resistance”. Other big winners of the evening included Jay-Z, John Legend, and Lady Gaga, who each had three trophies; Miranda Lambert won for best country female vocal performance and Train won the award for best pop performance by a duo or group with voice.
Canadians and Americans were shocked as Barbra Strisand when she announced that Montreal rockers, won album of the year for “The Suburbs.”

The band agreed and immediately rushed on stage to perform another song, almost oblivious to the magnitude of their victory shocking.

The evening was supposed to be a coronation for Eminem, who rose for the first 10 prizes.
