1990 Honda Accord 1 Million Miles New Vehicle, When Joe LoCicero purchased his 1990 Honda Accord in 1996 … Little did I know him and “True Blue”, as the car is affectionately called, would have a date with destiny in 2011.

Through careful maintenance and loving care “a million miles Joe” as he is known in his hometown of Norway, Maine, has managed to do what most could only dream … he is the owner of the car first documented to reach a million miles.

His light blue Accord built in Marysville, Ohio, assembly plant, did not reach the milestone for the accident.

Honda bought LoCicero higher when it had 74,000 miles. Continued to operate with diligent maintenance, keeping track of every change of filling the tank, tire rotation and oil in a couple of dozen notebooks.

“Every car needs maintenance,” said the Portland Press Herald LoCicero, it is recommended that drivers follow maintenance programs, using quality parts and drive safely.

LoCicero is a Master Auto Technician … and used to work on cars before he began to travel throughout Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont vehicle inspection for warranty claims and lease terms.

“Joe is a testament to what you can do if you keep your car,” said Ron Russell The Herald. He is director of Darling Auto Group operations in Bangor, Maine … the man responsible for ensuring that Honda knew about the approaching milestone.

“Fortunately, not many people do it or we would be out of business.” Russell said.

Honda was so excited about the “million miles Joe” story that he decided to throw a parade for him and “True Blue” Soco, Maine for the occasion.

And, oh yes … Joe gave him a new Honda Accord 2012 also … blue in the same family.

“I like it,” LoCicero said, smiling as he sat in the car again.

According to the Portland Press Herald, through the years, the vehicle safety belts, steering wheel and upholstery are worn and have been replaced. The fuel pump exploded at 741,000 miles, drawing laughter from their children when the car had to be towed.

However, with that many miles on the vehicle, it takes more than luck to get to that magic million.

“He’ll be there, underneath the car, on a blanket in the middle of winter,” said Sharon LoCicero, his wife of 32 years.

Honda set a clear time-lapse video of some of the images Joe odometer.
