18-year-old Becomes Town Mayor, With 24 write-in votes, 18-year-old Jeremy
Minnier has won election for mayor in the small northern Iowa town of Aredale.
Minnier says he ran his write-in campaign because he thought the opinions of Aredale’s 73 residents were going unnoticed.
Minnier has lived in Aredale his entire life. He’s been active in high school as a member of the band and president of the FFA.
His father was mayor of Aredale before Jeremy was born.
Jeremy Minnier says he’s planning to attend college close to home next year so he can continue his mayoral duties throughout his four-year term.
His FFA adviser is Dave Bowman. He says “Jeremy will do an unbelievable, great job” as mayor.18-Year Old Becomes Mayor
