16 Pound Baby16 Pound Baby, A 16-pound baby born this morning in Longview holds the record for the new hospital. JaMichael Brown is more than double the average weight of the baby … which is about seven pounds. CBS 19 ‘Monique bird went to the hospital to see mom and baby. Janet Johnson, of Longview is the proud mother of one of the largest babies born in Texas. JaMichael Brown was born Friday morning at Good Shepherd Medical Center.

“When they took the baby, you could say it was huge,” says Janet. “And then I weighed.”

Weeks ago, doctors told Janet and Michael Brown promised her son that weighs 12 or 13 pounds at birth. So for your baby shower … “I just said we were expecting a big baby,” says Janet. “To avoid any feature of the newborn.”

However, preparing for a baby thirteen pounds was not enough. JaMichael came out weighing 16 pounds, one ounce and two feet long.

“The first thing I asked – was fine,” says Janet. “They said yes.”

Nurse Mary Beth Smith was in the delivery room during cesarean Janet. In 20 years as a nurse …

“This is the biggest baby I’ve ever seen,” says Mary Beth.

Janet was diagnosed with gestational diabetes during pregnancy, which may have contributed to the size of JaMichael.

“It’s a beautiful baby,” says Mary Beth. “But for health reasons. We prefer not to see a big baby … They can be a little harder to keep your blood sugar.”

JaMichael Caregivers put baby in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

“he ‘s getting fed through a feeding tube, control his blood sugar,” says Janet.

But Janet hopes her baby is fine. And she cannot wait to give your child plenty of love.

Those in hospital are not sure if this is a record of the state – although they cannot find evidence of an older baby born in Texas. The world record is 23 pounds, 12 ounces.

Janet Johnson and Michael Brown said her son would be a big baby before birth – perhaps 12 or 13 pounds.

JaMichael Brown, was born at 9:00 am Friday at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, exceed expectations, reaching a whopping 16 pounds, 1 ounce and 24 inches long. The weight of the average newborn is about 7 and 1 / 2 pounds.

Doctors at the hospital say the baby could have been bigger because his mother had gestational diabetes. JaMichael is now in the NICU.

Good Shepherd says this is the biggest baby born in the hospital.

Mom and Dad say they have some clothes that they believe suits their children.
