10 Year Old Vogue Model, How young is too young for a child is to achieve a provocative pose? That seems to be the big question that images suggesting Lena-Rose Thylane Blondeau, a model 10 years old, who is billed as the next big thing in the world of fashion, are rekindling the debate about the sexualization of girls .
The controversial photo spread that appears in a recent issue of Vogue Paris, shoot Blondeau has seductive looks into the camera in a series of sexually charged poses one of which models a tight dress, which is on your stomach on a tiger skin rug with high heels, dresses feet up behind her.
While interest in the fashion industry in a younger generation of consumers and models is not new, many adults believe Blondeau beauty is giving other unhealthy thoughts youth on how they should look.
“We do not want kids to grow very fast,” said Shari Miles-Cohen, senior director of programs for women of the American Psychological Association. “We want to be able to develop physically, emotional, psychological and social at a pace appropriate to their age.”
According to APA, sexualizaton by the media directly affects girls see femininity and sexuality, promoting “good looks and physics,” as fundamental values. It has also been associated with low self-esteem, eating disorders and depression.
“The research clearly shows that the fashion industry affects girls and women pictures of themselves and their self-esteem if they do not” image “of the industry’s hot,” said Paul Miller, an associate professor of psychology at Arizona State University, told ABC.
“Even the youngest are very aware of media images of what is” enough “and desirable.”
