1 Killed, 4 Injured In Ohio School Shooting, One student was killed and four injured after a teenage gunman opened fire in a cafeteria at an Ohio high school.

The shooting occurred around 7:30 a.m. at Chardon High School in northeastern Ohio, about 30 miles east of Cleveland. Chardon is a city of about 5,100.

Update at 12:45 p.m. ET: All Chardon schools, from K-12, will be closed on Tuesday, WKYC reports, quoting the school superintendent.

Update at 12:39 p.m. ET: One high school junior, Nate Mueller, who was hit in the right ear during the shooting, tells TheCleveland Plain Dealer that he used to be friends with the shooter in middle school.

He tells the newspaper that he heard a shot behind him, turned and felt a sting on his ear. “My friends were crawling on the floor, and one of my friends was bent over the table, and he was shot,” Nate says. “It was almost like a firecracker went off. I turned around and saw him (T.J.) standing with a gun and I saw him take a shot.”

Mueller says one of his friends, Russell King, who was at the table with him, recently started dating one of the suspect’s former girlfriends, who is home-schooled. He says the shooter was “silent the whole time.”
